106-11  Unlike many other internal engine components that require complete engine disassembly for replacement, the oil pump drive is accessible from the oil pump console at the front of the engine. After a customer's newly built trackday was blown up due to a failed oil pump drive (see photo), we decided to offer a heat treated, shot peened, chromoly oil pump hex drive to replace the inferior, non-heat treated stock pump drive on the M96 and M97 engine, which has been known to fail, tear in half, resulting in a catastrophic loss of oil pressure.
